Excalibur T8 & T12 Lamp Notice

With the addition of EOL protection to the Excalibur & Trident ranges in accordance with the published IEC 60079-7 standard, a power limit for the ballasts has now been introduced. This limits the power that the ballast can generate to an acceptable level of 10W.

This upper limit has raised some issues with the use of T12 lamps. As a result Victor Lighting are only reccomoding the use of T8 lamps with EOL protected Excalibur and Trident models.

End of Life Phenomenon

There is an onging debate within the lighting industry; in particular the sector developing luminaires for use in hazardous areas, about the end of lamp life (EOL) phenomenon in fluorescent lamps. Although this EOL phenomenon is not new, a series of potentially catastrophic failures realting to competitors products has rasied questions about the safety of Ex 'e' fluorescent luminaires.
